France launches electronic invoicing reform for 800,000 businesses

On 1 September 2026, France officially launched its first phase of the electronic invoicing reform, marking a significant milestone in the country's digital transformation. With the implementation of this new policy, over 800,000 businesses, as identified by their SIRET numbers, are now registered with the DGFIP’s central registry through Quadient’s Serensia by Quadient platform and its white-label partners.

The reform, set to expand incrementally, will require medium and small-sized enterprises (PMEs and TPEs) to adopt electronic invoicing by September 2027. This initial phase is expected to pave the way for broader digitalization across the French economy, with Quadient positioning itself as a key player in this transition.

According to Geoffrey Godet, Quadient’s CEO, the reform “is not just about compliance; it’s a catalyst for digital transformation, streamlining financial processes and enhancing visibility into financial flows.” Serensia by Quadient, certified under ISO 27001 and leveraging SecNumCloud technology, ensures data security, a critical aspect of the reform.

During the initial phase, several key companies, including TotalEnergies and Dalkia, have already engaged in the exchange of electronic invoices, with over 100,000 such invoices processed by the end of August. This rapid increase in transactions underscores both the growing adoption of the system and Quadient’s ability to manage the transition.

“Recent weeks have seen a significant acceleration in transactions, reflecting the rising engagement of businesses and our capability to support the reform’s ramp-up,” Stéphanie Auchabie, Quadient’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Operations for Europe, commented.

As the reform progresses, it is part of a wider digitalization trend across Europe. Belgium has already implemented B2B electronic invoicing since January 2026, while Germany and the UK are set to follow suit in the coming years.
